Butterfly Valves

A Butterfly Valve is a quarter-turn rotary valve used to control the flow of liquids, gases, or slurries. The valve’s main component is a circular disc or plate that pivots on a central axis to open or close the flow path. In the open position, the disc is aligned parallel to the flow, allowing minimal obstruction. When closed, the disc turns perpendicular to the flow, effectively sealing the passage.

Butterfly valves are known for their compact design, low maintenance, and quick operation, making them ideal for high-volume flow systems. They come in various types such as manual, pneumatic, electric, or hydraulic actuated depending on the application.

These valves are widely used in industries like oil and gas, food processing, power generation, and marine systems due to their durability and versatility. Depending on the sealing mechanism, they can handle both low-pressure and high-pressure applications. Modern butterfly valves often include rubber, metal, or Teflon seats to enhance sealing performance.
